MINISINK BATTLEGROUND PARK

The park, which is listed on both the National Register and the Revolutionary War Heritage Trail, is dedicated to the men who fought and died at the “Battle of Minisink”.  The 57 acre park includes picnic areas, extensive hiking trails, restroom facilities, interpretive area and a picnic pavilion (fee).  Groups of 20 or more require a permit.

BASHA KILL WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA

Enjoy the outdoors at the NYS-owned Basha Kill Wildlife Management Area – hiking, fishing, birding, boating and quiet walks along trails that parallel this 3,000 acre wetland. There are no local boat rentals available. MONGAUP POND

10 miles NE of Livingston Manor. From Rte. 17 go east 6 miles on DeBruce Rd., turn left on Fish Hatchery Rd., pass hatchery & bear right onto Mongaup Pond Rd. Trailhead at end of road provides access to approximately 50 miles of multi-use trails for every season: snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, dog sledding, hiking, and horseback riding. The trails are beautiful in any season! The trail system is maintained by the Sullivan County Trail Association (845-985-2636) in conjunction with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation . No fee, no rentals.

This trail extends through Liberty, NY between Chestnut Street/SR 52 (near West Street) to Ferndale.  The trail occupies a portion of a former railroad corridor once owned by the O&W Rail Line.  Map boards at the end points guide you.  The trail has four trailheads across three different sections.  Biker, hiker or cross-country skiers welcome.

This trail runs along a route formerly used by the New York, Ontario & Western Railway’s main line.  Enjoy biking, hiking and cross-country skiing on this recently improved trail.  View the scenic waterfall on the Little Beaverkill trout stream which runs parallel to the trail.
