HILLSIDE STUDIOS Potter specializing in wood fueled, low-fired pottery featuring sculptural forms and planters whose aesthetic is simplicity and impermanence. White earthenware clay, a potter's wheel, and fine clay slip are used to create these distinctive porous pots. Smoke penetrates the pot’s surface, creating varying soft earth tones. The patina changes over time as water and soil are added to the pots and interact with the clay’s surface. Functional ceramic sculpture also offered. These sensuous and harmonious contemporary pieces are selectively hand-burnished – similar to Southwestern Native American Pottery. The wood firing technique results in unpredictable abstract designs and color combinations. Varying sizes and prices are available.
