The first part of lecture one will cover how color is a part of our everyday life (assessing where we buy, bank and sleep to how we get from one place to another). In the second part we will look at the use of color from a historical perspective; examining what pigments were available when and how they were used – including what artists have available since the coal tar technological innovations. Lastly we will spend time looking at how Color works in a creative way; showing Relativity, the Illusion of Transparency and the nine Contrasts of Itten will be explained and explored.
