"Verdant Ground" - a collaborative exhibition of work by photographer Karen Bell and sound artist Nick Forte with horticultural consultant Ed Mues. This show will feature over 15 nature photographs, predominantly of grasses, by Bell with an original sound installation, a symphony for 8 tape recorders, created by Forte. An installation of living flora will be incorporated by Mues and viewable after dark from 6-10pm in the gallery windows throughout the run of the show.

This week's event at the Harvest Festival features the 6th annual “Chili Day in October” event, a friendly competition between area emergency responders as part of the festival. Performers will include 1967 - Classic Nostalgia, The Shots & The Bergen County Firefighters Pipe Band. There will be a books signing by Patrick Thomas.

"The Lost World of the Egyptian Jews: First-Person Accounts from Egypt's Jewish Community in the Twentieth Century" - Lilian Dammond gives us a fascinating glimpse of the rich, cosmopolitan, and now largely lost world of the Egyptian Jews. A collection of oral histories gathered on two continents and over a period of five years, the book documents the flourishing and dispersal of this vibrant and unique community.

By combining theory and practice, this course explores the history and techniques of creating works of art through the medium of video, and the conceptual ideas behind the modern phenomena of sound and visual installation art. Utilizing computer software and techniques from outside the computer environment, students will be encouraged to think about their own art practice and how this would translate to the screen.

FLY FISHING HALL OF FAME INDUCTION

The following individuals will be inducted into the Fly Fishing Hall of Fame: Ed Van Put, Francis Betters, Art Neuman, George Griffith, Dave Whitlock and Ed Zern in recognition of their significant contribution to the world of fly fishing. The induction ceremony and reception will be held in the Catskill Fly Fishing Museum at 3pm, everyone is welcome. A special recognition dinner will be held following the induction ceremony at King's Catering in Livingston Manor. Cocktails at 6, dinner following at 7.

This high-energy evening will feature the dynamic and original music of The Prodigals, a four-member band known for their blend of traditional Irish melodies, singer-songwriter lyrics and jazz-funk rhythm section. Not to be outdone, the Niall O’Leary Irish Dance Troupe will offer a high-stepping Irish dance show, combining traditional forms with exciting new choreography by former All-Ireland and World Champion dancer O’Leary.

A special viewing of “I.O.U.S.A.” which premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival. In the film, director Patrick Creadon boldly examines our country’s rapidly growing national debt and explores ways to avoid a financial breakdown. Archival footage and economic data are interwoven with candid interviews with Warren Buffet, Alan Greenspan and others to paint a vivid profile of America’s current economic situation. Following the film will be a panel discussion and question and answer session featuring SCCC professors Tom Lambert and Dr. Tom Martin along with retired local educator Jack Leshner.

the jamboree celebrates SCCC’s sports teams, coaches and student-athletes. School spirit fills the fieldhouse as attendees take in the popular alumni basketball game and slam dunk contest, as well as get the opportunity to participate in other crowd games and contests. In addition, there will be a special recognition ceremony honoring the 2007-2008 NJCAA Player of the Year and former SCCC student Bertram “BJ” McDowell, as well as the 2008 Region XV Championship baseball team.
